TKS in Yeonggwang Exports Ship for the First Time

Writer administ Posted at 2010-06-23
According to Yonhap News,

TKS headquartered in Yeonggwang, South Jeolla Province, has exported a bulk carrier for the first time since its founding.

Gwangju Main Customs and TKS jointly announced on June 11st that the firm will deliver a 34,000-ton bulk carrier to German’s MarColorado on June 14th.

The carrier is 185-meter-long, 30-meter-wide and 14.7-meter-high. The contract value for the carrier is around 37 million dollars.

TKS won an order for the carrier just in two months since its establishment in August, 2008 and started to build the ship in September, 2008.

The firm was placed under a debt workout program in April last year due to the liquidity crisis, but they soon terminated the program in the next month thanks to its capital increase.

This is the first time for a company in the regions - that include Gwangju, Naju, Hwasun, Damyang, Gokseong, Jangseong, Yeongggwang and the international airport in Muan placed under the jurisdiction of Gwangju Main Customs - to export a carrier.

Gwangju Main Customs is providing administrative support to help the company expand its markets beyond the Korea's borders by enabling it to withhold tax payments created from the process of introducing and manufacturing foreign goods.
