South Jeolla Signed 45.8-Dollar Investment Agreeme

Green companies are flocking to South Jeolla.

South Jeolla Province has attracted a large number of green companies. Those are producers of solar photovoltaic collectors, electronic components, equipment for fish farming, and eco-friendly double-wall pipes for water supply and drainage.

South Jeolla Province held a signing ceremony of a 45.8-billion-won agreement in Seo Jae-Phil Room of the provincial government building in the morning on April 6th. The ceremony was attended by Lee Sang-myeon, Lieutenant Governor for Political Affairs; Ko Dae-seok, Lieutenant Governor of Gangjin; Park Yang-jong, Lieutenant Governor of Jangseong; Kim Yeong-an, Lieutenant Governor of Wando; and heads of five companies.

Under the agreement, OK-osiosi (CEO Kim Yeong-rae) will invest 1.6 billion won into Haeryong-myeon in Chuncheon to produce pro-environmental ropes used for fish farming utilizing barks of hemp trees or paper mulberries. If the ropes replace PVC ropes used for fishing farming of seaweeds and kelps, it will greatly contribute to preventing marine pollution.

Solar Force (CEO Lee Gwang-seon) is planning a 1.5-billion-won investment into Seongjeon-myeon in Gangjin to produce collectors for solar photovoltaic power, a new renewable energy source, and make world-class goods using patent-protected technologies, with an ultimate goal to advance into the global market.

With an investment of 35 billion won into Samgye-myeon in Jangseong, Jeonju Energy (CEO Jang Man-cheon) will produce refuse derived fuel used in biomass cogeneration plant and supply all of them to Jeonju Paper. This will largely contribute to reducing environmental pollution as the fuel is made up of refuse plastic, a main culprit of environmental pollution.

Dae-a Korea (CEO Kim Dong-mun) will spend 3 billion won on Donghwa Electronic Agro-industrial Complex in Jangseong to establish a production plant for electronic components such as temperature sensor devices, a core component for refrigerators, and supply all of the products to a factory of Samsung Electronics in Gwangju.

DS Tech (CEO Yang Ji-yeong) will make a 4.7-billion-won into Wando Agro-industrial Complex to make double-wall rigid PVC drainage pipes. These pipes are recognized for its eco-friendliness as they guarantee strong chemical resistance and perfect water resistance.

The investment made by the five firms will reach up to 45.8 billion won and is expected to contribute to the region with creation of 137 jobs.

“To ensure the success of the companies which invest in South Jeolla, we will do our best to provide administrative and financial support, help them get a loan, and host joint meeting for investors,” said Lee Sang-myeon, Lieutenant Governor for Political Affairs, in the ceremony. “We will never cease our efforts to support them.”
