Upcoming Summer Festivals of 2018

Writer 관리자 Posted at 2018-06-12
The season of festivities, summer, is here! Several festivals are planned for this summer, ranging from water activities to a flower festival, offering an opportunity to indulge in diverse cultural experiences.

First of all, the marvelous Rose Festival is currently ongoing at Everland in Yongin until June 15. Over 70 types of roses covering a land area of nearly 20,000㎡ will greet visitors along with several photo zones decorated to resemble different themes, like a golden wagon or lollipops. From June 22, Hansan Ramie Fabric Cultural Festival will take place in Hansan. Visitors will have the opportunity to engage in handicraft activities and try on clothing made of ramie fabric, or mosi, a cool fabric Koreans enjoy during the summer.

In July, refreshing water festivals are lined up to help you beat the heat. The all-time favorite Sinchon Water Gun Festival and Hangang Summer Festival will take place in Seoul. The latter in particular takes place at 11 different Hangang parks within Seoul, offering a total of 80 different programs categorized into three themes of water activities, performances, and relaxation. Don’t miss out on the festival’s highlight events, the Hangang River Cardboard Boat Race and free movie showing under the Hangang River Bridge. Jeongnamjin Jangheung Water Festival and Pohang International Fireworks Festival will also help beat the heat away during the peak of summer.

Music festivals are another summer treat to look forward to in Korea. From July 21 to 28, the Waterbomb Festival will entertain visitors with water, music, and dance. In August, the Busan International Rock Festival and Incheon Pentaport Rock Festival will both run from August 10 to 12, heating things up before summer ends. Take note that the Busan International Rock Festival is a free event where tickets are unnecessary.

Get the most out of summer in Korea with these exciting festivals!
